Application of ETButton and GripLoc in the Treatment of Canine Medial Shoulder Luxation

● Introduction
Canine shoulder luxation refers to the displacement of the humeral head from the glenoid cavity of the scapula, resulting in joint dysfunction and pain. Based on the direction of displacement, shoulder luxation can be classified as medial, lateral, cranial, or caudal—medial luxation being the most common.
In this case study, we will explore the practical application and significant outcomes of using ETButton and GripLoc in treating medial shoulder luxation, through the case of a Toy Poodle named Xiaoxin.

● Basic Information
· Name: Xiaoxin
· Breed: Toy Poodle
· Sex: Male
· Age: 8 years 6 months
· Medical History: Three days prior to presentation, the dog was bathed at a pet grooming shop. Upon returning home, he was unable to bear weight on his right forelimb. Radiographs taken at an external clinic revealed medial shoulder luxation.

● Discussion & Conclusion
Current treatment options for canine shoulder luxation include conservative management, biceps tendon transposition, and arthrodesis.
· Conservative treatment is suitable for mild instability but often yields limited results.
· Biceps tendon transposition aims to enhance joint stability by repositioning the biceps tendon.
· Arthrodesis is typically reserved for severe joint trauma or chronic luxation cases.
ETButton and GripLoc, as innovative solutions specifically designed for ligament repair, provide strong bone fixation and fill a critical gap in the treatment of shoulder joint instability. These devices represent a more precise and stable option for canine shoulder luxation cases.
